In Hannah's words

“I came up with this project as I wandered the streets of Asheville, where I live. It was the day after Hurricane Helene hit. Everywhere you looked, you’d see giant trees down, waters raging, and buildings destroyed. ‘What,’ I wondered, ‘will we tell the children about this? And how, in 10 years, in 20, will we explain why we didn’t do more to leave them a safer, healthier planet?’

These works are a response to those questions. They feature the breathtakingly inane excuses we’ll have to give our children about why we didn’t stop the climate crisis. In doing so, they prompt people to act now to create a world in which our kids will be safer from natural disasters and other harmful effects of climate inaction.”
